This video was shot over a year ago at the Cannery Pier Hotel in Astoria, Oregon when I was in town for an event at Clemente's Restaurant Astoria Oregon during the FisherPoets Gathering. It sheds a little more insight into "Boom, Bust, Boom." For more:

Fishing - Forests - Families Lisa Tarabochia Clement, a fourth generation Astorian and downtown restaurateur, announces her candidacy for Clatsop County Commission, District 3. "As a native Astorian from an extended family of Columbia River and Alaska commercial salmon fishers, my deep roots in the communities of the Estuary shape my understanding of our opportunities for a truly sustainable way of life.” A graduate of Astoria High School and the University of Oregon, Lisa is an active volunteer in Astoria Schools, including the Health and Wellness Committee. She’s also a veteran contributor and supporter of the No on 81, the No Pebble Mine and Trout Unlimited’s Save Bristol Bay campaigns. Lisa and her husband, Gordon Clement, have owned and operated Clemente's Restaurant in the heart of historic downtown Astoria for a decade. They and their two children live above downtown. “My husband and I chose to raise our children and start our business in my hometown. Our success is dependent upon 1) repeat customers, both local and visitors, 2) our valued employees and 3) continued access to quality, locally grown and harvested products from our land and sea. Our community remains economically natural resource-based, including our visitor sector. Rather than a limiting factor, it is our strength. I believe that both our community and our economy can be truly sustainable only if we ultimately achieve a sustainable environment - one that includes, as examples, high quality wood products from healthy, biologically-diverse forests and harvestable runs of wild fish. My purpose in asking the voters of District 3 for the opportunity to represent them is so that I can help to lead us toward that sustainable future for all of our families. It’s a challenge I genuinely embrace.” Clatsop County Commissioner District 3 includes central Astoria generally described as between 8th street on the west, Mill Pond Village to the east and extending south through the central South Slope to include the rural areas of Olney, Youngs River, Miles Crossing, Jeffers Gardens and Lewis & Clark. County commissioner positions representing districts 1, 3 and 5 will be on the May 20, 2014 Primary Election ballot. Contact: Lisa Tarabochia Clement 503-298-0897
